For My Baby Scarlett

As my due date gets closer (5 weeks away), I continue to think about what kind of mom I will be. I hope I'm a good one of course, and I know so many wonderful moms (especially my own), that I have a lot of woman I can look up to and ask questions when I need to.
And then the other day I saw this woman's blog with a list of all the things she wanted to teach her daughter. So this week my post is all about the things I want to teach my daughter:

  1. You are a wonderful daughter of God.
  2. I love you more than anything.
  3. Friends and boys will come and go, but your family is here forever.
  4. Modest is hottest.
  5. Disneyland is always fun, no matter what Dad says.
  6. Dad will always love you more than any other boy ever will.
  7. Beauty is a state of mind, not a state of body.
  8. The world needs your point of view.
  9. My closet is always open to you.
  10. Food is a joy.
  11. No matter how old you get you are and will always be my little baby.
  12. No prayer request is ever too small, too silly, or too embarrassing to share.
  13. Inevitably we will splinter each other's heart, but we will tweeze them out together.
  14. Staying up late to read a good book is never time wasted.
  15. Sometimes crying is the only thing that will make you feel better and my shoulder is always there for you.
  16. Forgiveness is divine.
  17. Laugh as loud as you can.
  18. Always speak kind words to others.
  19. The saviour is always the best comforter, but I'm a close second.
  20. Saying sorry first is a strength, not a weakness.
  21. Long hair requires a really good conditioner.
  22. God made all things beautiful, that includes you.
  23. Always think twice before cutting your hair.
  24. When it comes to help with homework, always go to Dad for math.
  25. If you happen to fail at something, don't give up, keep on trying.
  26. There is always a silver lining.
  27. I will be your best friend, but being your mother will always come first.
  28. Everyone has their own opinions, but your opinion about yourself is the most important.
  29. History is fascinating.
  30. The world is beautiful, so stop and enjoy it every once in awhile.
  31. Have patience with me, I'm doing my best.
  32. Grandma's house is always a good place to run away to, just let me know when you leave first.
  33. Don't be afraid to be silly, crazy, and weird.
  34. Challenge yourself.
  35. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
  36. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't do it, say it, or wear it.
  37. The atonement is the best gift you will ever receive. Use it, but don't abuse it.
  38. It's never too late to tell the truth.
  39. Bad haircuts grow out eventually, invest in a good hat.
  40. There is no such thing as perfect.
  41. You can always come home.
  42. Nothing could make me love you less.
  43. You are everything I had imagined.
  44. It's okay to be scared. Put on a brave face and keep going anyway.
  45. You are never too old to dress up for Halloween.
  46. If I'm hard on you, it's only because I know your full potential.
  47. I will never expect you to get straight A's as long as you are really trying your hardest.
  48. Don't worry, Daddy will kill all the spiders.
  49. Don't be surprised if your Dad and I are hard on your first date.
  50. Write down your best memories, you don't ever want to forget them.

  1. Honey, you make me cry! But just know they are tears of happiness and joy at the wonderful woman you've become, the sweet wife you are the loving mom you'll be and the precious angel I've been grateful for every day of your life. You amaze me and I love you to infinity and beyond!
